About me

I am a senior lecturer in the Department of Geography, Geoinformatics and Meteorology at the University of Pretoria, South Africa. My research focuses on spatial data visualization to support decision making, and generally spans two disciplines: Geographic Information Science (GISc) and Computer Science. 

To date, I have been mainly involved in tertiary education and completed my studies throughout. As an educator, I had the opportunity to learn all the latest technology and gain a deep understanding of various topics. I have work on a wide range of topics, locally and internationally, with more than 30 individuals.

I am passionate about open source, open education and open data and has been involved in the UN OpenGIS initiative, Google Code-in and Google Summer of Code. Currently, I am serves on the OSGeo Board of Directors and the co-chair of GeoForAll.
